Upper Edmonton Female Walking Buddy wantedHi, along with many other people this new year, i would like to lose weight and improve my fitness. As I can't afford gym membership I'd like to use the local parks in Edmonton (ideally Pymmes Park) to walk in. However, for safety and motivation I'd like to partner up with one or two other women who would like to go for a 30-45min walk 2-3 times a week (during the evening on weekdays and during the day on weekends). I'm building up my fitness and recovering from an injury so it'll be gentle to moderate walking (not running!). I went to Silver Steet school, in the juniors Mr Newing was the headmaster. My mum died during this period and us five children were put into care, and seem to have lost touch with each other.Do you remember Frindles the bike shop, the smell of rubber and oil brings back memories. My sister was born in an Anderson shelter at 153 Bulwer Rd during the blitz, she was at the time known as "the blitz baby". I have great memories of the Victory Parade in Fore St, those were the days. There were house names for the colours Cook = yellow, Hudson = red, Shakleton = blue, and Scott = Green , Have a look on Friends reunited for many stories from the fifties.
