Woolwich ~ Gym Buddy for Fit Space, Woolwich ~

Hi all,
I'm a 31 yr old overweight woman, lost 3 stone since April last year but my motivation is lacking and I really need to get in the gym and shed the last 5 stone I need to get to my goal weight.

I've successfully lost weight at the gym before when going with a mate, as I know I've got someone I can't let down and that helps me get moving and get my butt down there! When I go on my own sadly though all the excuses in the world come out.

If you're local to Woolwich and desperate to get fit, send me an Email and let's get this thing started! :)

Woolwich ITS A WONDERFUL PLACE ......

Hi Josie

The best place to be safe is in Woodside Park (not the North Finchley side but nr. Lullington Garth). Once you move there that is it, no one ever moves away. Countryside all around you, Old fashioned club house, 2 parks, lovely St. Barnabas Church, underground on your doorstep and buses. Go visit there and you will see what I mean by never wanting to move again.

Woolwich Gym Buddy Needed!

This is a great offer because the gym will be FREE for you! I live in the OneSE8 building in Deptford Bridge and am in desperate need of a gym buddy. Happy to do after work or day times, whatever suits you better, or even mix it up.

Prefer someone female, as I'm female (aged 29) but guys are welcome, as long as you understand this is strictly platonic.

I'm desperate to get fit, so if you are, please email me and we can get started asap!

Woolwich Was there a bad fire at Powis Street Woolworth 1960

As a child in the 1960's I remember a severe fire at the Powis Street, Woolworth store and a fire that killed a family in a wool shop close to the bottom of Waverley Road, Plumstead. I was very young and wonder if the Woolworth fire was a dream?  Mail-me

Woolwich Gym buddy at Waterfront

Hi,

Just read your post.

I living in Woolwich too and would to have company to go the gym/ exercise classes. I am a member at the Waterfront. Are you interested in that at all? I'm black, 41, size 16-18, on holiday at the moment with loads of time on my hands. It makes the world of difference if there is someone else to go with. I can't say how many times I have planned to go to a class but ended up staying in - the easy option.
Get in touch if you're still interested,

S.

Woolwich Looking for female friends in Woolwich

I am a female solicitor in my late 20s living in Woolwich. I am not originally from Woolwich but have been in the area for the past 5 years or so. My background is Afro-Caribbean. I would really like to make some girlfriends (although would also be happy to hear from guys) in the area to hang out with in the evenings and weekends. I enjoy going to the cinema or theatre, cooking, going for walks and shopping.

If you would like to be friends email:  Mail-me

Woolwich

Hi, I would like to buy a property and it seem that some of the cheapest places are around the woolwich and plumstead area. i heard that these are not nice areas but understand that peoples' opinions differs. It would be nice to hear the opinions of those who actually live in these areas. I would also like to know what are some of the best parts to live. I like open space, greenery, parks and water.

Thanks.

Woolwich

I moved to the area 6 years ago from Canterbury and was advised from a number of sources to stick to the upper part of Plumstead, around the common or Welling borders. We're just off Winns Common and so far, so good. Its a respectable enough area and the neighbours are lovely. Also a neighbourhood watch area so you can't go wrong really. Also nice to have all the open space close by.

Woolwich Two things

First, Woolwich may be dreary but it is definitely not unsafe! I am a female living here for 4 years now; I've been out on my own at all hours. It's odd but I sometimes feel that if something were to happen to me in Woolwich, people would help

I am looking for a gym buddy to go to Fitspace on weekends! I am overweight and don't like gyms so would really be grateful for the company

Whoever said it's unsafe lies

I live in a gated development but have walked around woolwich in the dark without ever having any problems except being pestered or chatted up by men that I didn't know. My reply was to say I was meeting my husband it always worked

Woolwich Not unsafe but you do need street cred

I wanted to add to an earlier post.

Woolwich isn't unsafe but it can be rough around the edges.

Although it has started to improve depends where you are coming from retail wise it's pretty rank. Costa Coffee had two shops in woolwich one closed to become a pawn shop, Top Shop had a store that went, Body Shop, Game and Nationwide and Pizza Hut have gone.

Shopping is poor here. It is OK to live, it's green and friendlish but personally if you want character and value for money live here otherwise head to Eltham which has a Next and much better Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury's for starters

Woolwich What is it like living in Woolwich in 2011? More specifically, in the Royal Arsenal development?

I am about to move to Woolwich, near the Royal Arsenal development by the river front. I have heard Woolwich suffers from crime - what is it actually like living there?

I would really appreciate comments from locals, and more specifically, people living in the Royal Arsenal development?

Thanks you!!

Woolwich

Hi,

I lived in Royal Arsenal from Apr until Dec 2008 (they were still renovating it). The area outside the Royal Arsenal was a bit dodgy but I never experienced or witnessed anything awful. Although the Royal Arsenal itself is wonderful, if you wanted to go out you would have to go to London (or Greenwich, the closest best place to go out).
I don't know how it panned out after the DLR station was built, I left a little before that. The only thing I can tell is that you couldn't find a decent pub anywhere in the vicinity. And the one in the Royal Arsenal was not completely open and didn't have enough buzz to draw us to it.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,
Henrique

Woolwich Maritime House, Greens End

Hi everyone

I'm thinking of moving in to a flat in Maritime House, located next to Marks and Spencers in Woolwich. Can anyone tell me what is it like in Maritime House and the area around it?

Personally, I would not move there. There have been a lot of repossesions in the building and the conditions are not great. High repo rate will have an impact on your mortgage and insurance rates. Sadly, a lot of the new builds in Woolwich are blighted like this.

Woolwich nandos and new pub have opened

nandos has now being fitted out in a really nice funky way. Also the dial arch pub on the royal arsenal has now opened which is somewhere that you can really go out to for the evening. Hurrah Hurrah. I went there last night. It had been open 2 days and many that walked in the door was saying wow at last and practically kissing the staff. The decor is fab including the loos!! But it is suitably not stuffy with it; I think it will probably be a pub where professionals feel welcome and comfortable but where anyone at all should feel welcome to go to. Seemed a real mixed bunch last night which is how woolwich should be i guess.
