Willesden Knight Family

I'm seeking any information about my father Douglas Charles Knight born in 1918. All that I know is that his mother's name was Olive her occupation was listed as "maid"; she later remarried probably in the 1920's. He had a younger brother named John. He told me one time that there were three Douglas Charles Knight's ( all of the first born son's had this name ) buried in the cemetery in Willesden but not which cemetery! Dad was estranged from his mother and brother after the death of his father likely in the early 1920's. Any information about this family would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at  Mail-me  Thanks

Willesden Fitzgerald - 64, Nicoll Road, Willesden

I am trying to trace any information relating to my paternal grandfather John Fitzgerald (whom I never knew). He moved from South Wales in the late 1920's to London. Together with his wife Florence Margaret and his children Kathleen, Thomas, Ellen, Vincent and Michael Francis they lived at 64, Nicoll Road, Willesden until at least March 1940 when Florence died. John worked as a labourer in a railway locomotive department.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Willesden Taylors Lane

I have just been looking at the Willesden street map on the internet and it appears Taylors Lane has been renamed to Hawkings Rd. Bridge Rd and Gibbons Rd are still there but the roads off Taylors Lane have been renamed. Does anyone know why and when these roads were renamed?
I lived in Taylors Lane from 1941 - 1959.

Willesden Penny for the Guy - 1950s

This is a good time to remember the 'story' about those kids who took a guy out to collect pennies in the mid '50s. As I heard it, they took the guy on an old pushchair around the shops in Church Rd. when they went inside the Butchers (opposite Curzon Cres and the Post office - I can't remember the name) The Butcher was obviously a bit p***** by this and stabbed the guy with one of his knives. Unfortunately it was a kid dressed up to make a ‘very life like’ guy. Was this true or just a story? If true what happened ?

Post reply -->London Willesden Dj 4 Nov

Willesden

I think the butchers opposite Curzon Crescent was Carpenters. My mother told me of a boy being stabbed accidentally while dressed as a guy, but I don't think it was outside this butchers. This story goes back to before WWII and my mother told me about it before 1950 just in case I would have unthinkingly done something similar. The gist of the story is just as you account.

Willesden Kilburn and Willesden Mother and Baby home

Hi my name is Ruth Higgins. I was born in that home on the 16th June, 1963 and 3 months later was placed for adoption with a family in Ireland. I was wondering if anyone knew my birth mother? Her name was Margaret O' Shea and she would have been around 22 at the time.I did trace her before she died but never really got to know her as she lived in New York. I would love to know more about her or the O'Shea family. I believe she had a brother John (deceased) married to an Emily who could also be still alive and living in the UK. Hopefully someone out there can help me. Ruth My email address is  Mail-me

Is this the carraige that was replaced by the advertising hording in the late 50's? After the cafe closed in the (guessing here) early 50's. On the southern side of Taylors Lane/Church Rd corner.
