West Brompton My West Brompton  

My Grandfather married at St Mary's Boltons in 1910. At the time of his marriage he resided at 10 CHELSEA GROVE, West Brompton

Where is or was CHELSEA GROVE, as all the street maps (including one from 1914) do not show a street by that name in West Brompton

West Brompton Chelsea Grove  

I have had an e-mail in just now with family history information and an address in Chelsea Grove in the 1840s. My greatgrandmother lived in Camera Street in 1843, this was just off the King's Road. Chelsea Grove may have been near there as it was the same family. I will pursue it further and get back to you if I find anything definite, I have lists of old London street names etc. and a copy of bound series Old & New London printed in the 1860s.

West Brompton CHELSEA GROVE  

Found Chelsea Grove in the area named Little Chelsea
not very far but just on the corner of the map which shows Camera Square/Place/Street where my greatgrandmother lived.
Unfortunately this part of the map
(Greenwoods map of London 1830) is rather fuzzy as seen on the web site. It is not very far from Chelsea Park and West Brompton - hope this is helpful.

West Brompton Chelsea Grove  

According to the 1881 census, Chelsea Grove was somewhere between 172 and 178 Fulham Road, Brompton near Bolton Mews.

In 1881, the property was occupied by Robert & Matilda Taylor from suffolk and their children. Robert was a labourer.

Fulham Pools is Walking distance from West Brompton - Just beyond Nrth End Rd. Used to be council run and is now Holmes Place but you can still go for a swim for about £3..
