Bars and restaurants, several small and one huge park. Wanstead Park which is excellent again. still maintains a good large village attitude with lots of bistro type places to eat and drink. Nearest nightlife is Funky Mo Jo's in south woodford couple of quid for a taxi. Good selection of shops if you don't want to leave the area. Wanstead Truffles chocolate shopDoes anyone know the latest on (former)Truffles chocolate shop? Last I read the owner applied and got retrospective planning permission to demolish it! That's a joke, considering it was demolished illegally under the council's nose. His son claimed it was falling down before they demolished it...that's convenient. Another piece of our heritage lost. I only wish I'd taken photos of this beautiful old building for posterity. No doubt the owner, if it ever gets to court, will get a fine amounting to much less than the profit he makes 'developing' the site.
