Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Anushka 22 Feb Turnpike Lane Nice Place to liveJust moved to area and think its great! Good shops, easy transport to to city centre! Good sized houses all in all pretty damn good! Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane 20 Feb Turnpike Lane Living in Turnpike Lane for 6monthsi've lived in turnpike lane for 6 months straight and found it to be the most economical and inexpensive place to live in london. Shops, supermarkets and restaurants are easily accessible and i can basically find everythign i need over there. There's a park as well where I used to do my jogging and access to train and bus was easy. Only problems were...yes..its dirty sometimes but i didnt care much abt it and flats were tiny in that area (maybe I wasnt lucky to get a bigger one). The rest is all good old memories. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Sam 15 Jan Turnpike Lane gp surgery with diabetic clinicI'm new to the area and looking for a doctor's surgery in the Turnpike Lane area which has a diabetic nurse or a diabetic clinic. Does anyone know of one or better still can anyone recommend one. Alternatively you might know which is the nearest hospital with a diabetic centre. Turnpike Lane Carpenter wantedDoes anyone know of a good reliable and inexpensive carpenter in the turnpike lane area? Thanks Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Danny 22 May Turnpike Lane Unclean StreetsI've lived in Turnpike Lane for nearly one year and I have to say I think the streets are extremely dirty and do wonder what my council tax is paying for, oh yes, that will be the constant noise of emergency services at all hours of the night. Other than these two comments, the shops towards Wood Green are good. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Sarah 16 Mar Turnpike Lane I am looking for CHOIR SINGING in the area.Hi, Has anyone know where choir singing held? My daughter would like to join in. Please e mail me the address or location so I can search for it. Many thanks Mail-me Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Gul 11 Dec Turnpike Lane The best karaoke in town!Check out the Thai Orient karaoke on Turnpike Lane, after some cheap as chips drinks in the Tollgate. Also you must visit Hampstead Heath, especially in the summer (get train from Haringey Green Lanes). Pizza Bianca on Green Lanes does the best food, and Aley Paley has great views and gigs. The 20 night bus if great if you want to go out in Camden. Cheap vege all over the place, especially green lanes. The Sailsbury Hotel is a good place to drink and also has a poetry night called Utter every few months which is very funny. Also check out Wood Green Library for interesting local events. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane George 13 Sep ^ Turnpike Lane George we are living parallel lives!!!Did I used to live with you? Are you that George living a secret 'move flat' life? The New Thai Orient is fabulous freaky fun, and for restaurant food and cheap veg TPL/ Green lanes is the best place in town. The streets may have the occasional dodgy paving slab, and sometimes the bins overflow...... but come on.... Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Mhairi 30 May Turnpike Lane The Crouch End backwaters...Turnpike Lane is great - full of cheap Turkish grocers, great cheap restaurants (think Gallipoli but half the price!), and only 15 minute walk from Crouch End. All the houses are large and Victorian and you're at the bottom of the hill from Alexandra Palace for all the gigs and firework displays. Add that to two cinemas in Wood Green High Street (2 min walk from Turnpike Lane) and a bevvy of great high street shops including H&M and Matalan (bargains!). Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Suze 27 Jul Turnpike Lane Haringey addict!Ive lived in the area for 5 years, on and off, and love it! Although its not really pretty, the rent is very good - big rooms in large townhouses, a lot cheaper than anywhere else in london that has good access to lots of tubes and even more buses. Lots of pubs around, you have to explore to find them though, and lots of green spaces - another rarity in london. Best of all, there are loads of 24hr shops that sell cheap, fresh food straight from the Med. Fab. Oh, and 24hr buses that connect you to to the centre of town every day of the week. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Lavinia 15 Jun Turnpike Lane Central for North London, Quiet Residential PartTurnpike Lane is a central point for North London connecting key surrounding areas such as Wood Green, Tottenham, Manor House, Hornsey and Finsbury Park. It offers good transport to Central London in all Underground, Overground, Bus and Night Bus means. It has quiet residential parts and wide-ranging shopping areas. Professionals, students and families live in the area. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane ^ Turnpike Lane bars etcHi - I lived in Turnpike Lane for six months last Winter and although its great for the supermarkets and underground links, it was particularly poor for going out i.e. there is a Weatherspoons situated there and that was about it (and I wouldn't recommend either - soz!). I always just headed to Highbury & Islington which is a hop skip and a jump down the road... Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Ro 22 Jun ^ Turnpike Lane^ Turnpike LaneMosaica at the Chocolate Factory has good food & nice people. He was recommended by a friend that has complete panics when they visit & still use him even though they've moved south of the river. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane ruth_crowley@haygroup.com 20 Dec ^ Turnpike Lane Tottenham Green or Crouch EndHi, there are two centres, both with pool which belong to Haringey Leisure. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane 15 Jul ^ Turnpike Lane PoolI go to a pool in Hoghbury which is very near H&Islington tube. That's the nearest one I know of. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane George 13 Sep ^ Turnpike Lane Holmes PlaceThere's one on Wood Green High road without a pool, and one in Crouch End (20-30min walk) with. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane Julie 9 Sep ^ Turnpike LaneWestbury Avenue surgery on the junction of Lordship Lane & Westbury Avenue is excellent, good Dr's male & female, lovely nurse & professional receptionists - you may have to wait as they're good - but they're worth it. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane 8 Jul ^ Turnpike Lane OkishSeems to be the nice bit of Tottenham. Two tubes on different lines is good. i walked into a mental patient who proceeded to bash me about the head! It's got everything you need like shops and transport = cheap rent Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane ^ Turnpike Lane Tottenham?^ Turnpike Lane RE. Tottenham? Is that Haringey? or harringey, or harringay? the school in my road says Tottenham on the sign anyway! Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane 16 Jun ^ Turnpike LaneHarinGEY is the Borough and HarinGAY is the small Cypriot area around Green Lanes/Ladder- known to estate agents only as Haringay Heights! Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane 22 Jun ^ Turnpike LaneApparently Harringay (Harringay Road N15) is the original village of Harringay - Haringey is what the Council use - presumably as its easier to spell! Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane 8 Jul ^ Turnpike Lane Turnpike Lane is mostly in Tottenham..N17 & N15 postcodes are in Tottenham, where as N8 is in Hornsey. Dont believe eveything estate agents tell you! Turnpike Lane is just the name of the Tube Station. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane 22 Jun ^ Turnpike Lane Haringey - Green LanesNow you are talking about the Haringey end of Green Lanes. It was maily 'Cypriot' about ten years ago. Now although many of the Cypriot shops remain it is mainly populated by Turks, Kurds and Albanians. The Greek Cypriots have moved futher out although many of the traditional Greek (and Turkish) Cypriot shops remain. The cake shops are probably the greatest asset of the area. Worth travelling a great distance to sample. Post reply -->London Turnpike Lane 22 Jun |
