Stockwell Looking for information about Love Lane, Stockwell -- possibly now Stockwell Lane  

In the 1911 census I found some family members living at 17 Love Lane, Stockwell. Does anyone know if this is now Stockwell Lane?  Mail-me

Stockwell is NOT Safe!  

The Stockwell area is not safe especially at night! It is rife with drunks, drugs and gangs of pick-pockets. The Northern Line has always had crime related problems as it is a main travel route and commuters are regularly targetted for cash, jewellrey & mobile 'phones. The police don't do anything as this ongoing situation has escalated out of control. Don't live there if you don't have to.

Stockwell Stockwell not sure  

Hello all,

I'm also a female and just about to decide whether to take a studio in Stockwell as well but my main concern is whether its a safe place to live or not. As per the Metropolitan police site this are is quite alright compared to others near Central London, Paddington curiosly enough seems to be one of the worse areas...anyway I have to decide asap if I should have the studio or not and was looking for more information on how this area is like regarding safety...I know its London...but I'd like to know whether I'd be safe if I have to stay working late and come back home alone after...can anyone help? Is the tube safe as well?  Mail-me  Thanks

My boyfriend is born and bread in Stockwell, and it is not a down and out place. I visit there on a regular occasion and everyone is always very friendly, like anywhere there are a few frightening faces! Like anywhere there are some rough pubs, and a few dodgy looking streets, but not everything and everywhere is shabby. I agree there isnt a whole lot to do, but when the tube station is on your doorstep does there really need to be?

It has all amenities, and nothing is too far away.

Not everyone, and everything is down and out here. PLEASE dont let people lead you to believe this.

Stockwell Stockwell not sure  

Hello all,

I'm also a female and just about to decide whether to take a studio in Stockwell as well but my main concern is whether its a safe place to live or not. I have rented various places in Stockwell for 3 years now and found it safe and a very well serviced area for transport shops and nights out in Clapham and the West End. The 24 hour Cost Cutter supermarket next to the tube is well stocked with fresh fruit, vegetables and French bread. Cafe Nile is one of Stockwell’s best kept Moroccan secrets that randomly do amazing Greek Salads! The area has experienced huge progress since I have lived here. Long live Stockwell- may you find the area as convenient and fun as I have. Love to you all, Sallyxx

Stockwell Eurotower  

Hi,
I'm thinking of moving into the newly refurbished apartments at Courland Grove (Eurotower). I just want to ask how safe is the area at night, especially since it's near the park. Is it well lit? I'm a single female and am a bit worried about this.

Stockwell An information on Fairbairn Green  

I am just about to put an offer in on a flat in fairbairn green. I cant find any info on the area or this building. Could anyone help as I like the area but have no info. It is like none have ever been sold but thats impossible?Anything would be appreciated.

Stockwell Horizons Gym  

I am a member of Horizons Gym on Liberty Stret. It is, as was previously stated, on Liberty Street by the Durand Primary School. I don't think it has a net presence, which is probably why you can always use all of the equipment there, including a Power-Plate, at no extra cost! Best to pop round and see the place, the staff are friendly and helpful. Best gym/pool for miles.
