 | Southwark looking for old shops and pubs in the 1950hi i am doing a look at the past album for my sister who will be 50 this year, and i am trying to find any info on the pub called the globe that was in chatham street/darwin street. it used to sell seafish outside the pub. also looking for any info on a corner shop that my aunt used to own (lucy parker) used to sell groceries etc. looking for any photos of either. i have tried the web but cant get any joy. if anyone can give me a website please email me . The flats were all pulled down in the early sixties and Mardyke street disappeared. The space now being occupied by Mardyke House. Mason Street and Townsend street still exist though. There is a photograph of Mardyke Street and Mason Street circa 1957, which is held at The London Metropolitan Archive. Hope this helps... Great memories growing up there, it was a poor area and the flats were pulled down due to slum clearance.
