Post or Ask something here in 'South Norwood' South Norwood South Norwood...I tend to go out in Crystal Palace or Norwood Junction...but a few pubs to go to include Ivory Coast, Joiners Arms and the Albert.....Other pubs Albion and Jolly Sailor have new owners and trying to up their game. The Indian at the begginning of Portland Road is really good....and very popular. The Thai Restuarant on Portland Road is good too. The bus to Crystal Palce runs every seven minutes and takes ten minutes....And there's lovely restaurants also in South Croydon. Correction, is there was any spelling mistakes, who cares what people read in any papers. London is a major international city and has the same people as any where else in the world. No place any one is trapped, maybe for the residents who say its gone down over maybe you should have been planning to find a place where your happy. As for others it is just find, not every street has the same type of people in South Norwood Post reply -->London South Norwood 6 Jul South Norwood Moving to South NorwoodLooking on buying a place near Sangley Road, which looks lovely, would appreciate any feedback, good, bad or general… am still a socialable being and would like pointers on good locals, places to eat and routes home from the city after train times. Post reply -->London South Norwood Mazz 22 Feb South Norwood South NorwoodThanks for tip re. residents assoc. An old workmate lived near the stadium and he said wasn't a problem as fans well behaved. Might be a problem getting a parking space during the match. Traffic is busy for an hour before and after a game but only every other weekend and not all year as football is seasonal. On a side note, my elderly mother lives in South Norwood. The neighbours on her road are extremely friendly, she loves going for walks in the South Norwood Country Park which is teaming with wildlife, and the trams are excellent. It's about 10 mins drive/bus north (so long as you don't try it during rush hour!) just before a large B&Q. The 196 or 468 will take you straight there. Post reply -->London South Norwood Becky 2 Feb South Norwood S. Norwood - Decline or Ascendant? 1I lived in oliver grove for 18 years, moved away in 1977 and still visit my elderly relly's fairly regularly. Seeing all the worries about how Safe it is, I thought I should add my tuppence worth. As far as I can tell violence, assault and theft is as common now as it was in the early sixties, the only difference is that it is all publicised now. several good friends at school in the 70s were stabbed at one time or another, but then another had his head severed by a shotgun blast in crystal palace in the early eighties. continued in next post ... Post reply -->London South Norwood Ex Stanley Tech person 15 Jan South Norwood S. Norwood - Decline or Ascendant? 2continued from previous post... Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to suggest that such things are rife, just that the worsening state is a myth. I now live in a small village in sussex and a recent stabbing adds to the list that includes a machine gunning in 1945. So I'd suggest chilling out about the fear. Where there is some truth however, is in the well documented outward progression of urban decay that radiates from London. In the early 70s crystal palace was a dump, and thornton heath was quite a village, now C.P. has gentrified and Thornton Heath is on the cusp. continued in next post ...
