Rotherhithe MEDIVET

Kirby's has changed to MediVet. I was sent a reminder for my cat jabs. She is 15 and very nervous. If hospitalised she goes into complete shock and shuts down. On examination I was told that she had a heart arythymia and could drop dead any minute, also that her teeth were badly infected and needing some removing amounting to £2000 and that I should bring her straight back the next day. I was quite shocked as the cat was very well, playing and eating. I got another vet to check her. Her heart rate was high from NERVES and her teeth a bit scaled, but not worth the risk of doing. I phoned MEDIVET and complained and was told a manager would phone me. THEY NEVER DID. I do not trust them and am not going back there. How many pets are they operating on unnecessarily to get money????

Rotherhithe Dolly Cooper Dance Classes

Did anyone go to Dolly Cooper tap and ballet in he 50's and 60's? The classes were over the Pub at the bottom of Albion St. A lady in flats nearby made all the costumes for the concerts in the Assembly Rooms. We took exams for medals too. Mum (Grace) took me with my younger sister Pauline and mum's friend Bet Cottrell took her daughter Irene. We loved it but mum and Bet once got sent out because they were laughing at Pauline and Irene!
Has anyone got any photos?

Rotherhithe pht@paradise.net.nz

Hoping someone can help me.
My mother was born in Rotherhithe in 1915, and will be celebrating her 100th in November, here in New Zealand.

She tells me she went to Albion street school, then managed a scholarship to St.Olave's in Bermondsey. Is there any way I can confirm this, anywhere there may be records still available.

Rotherhithe Tunnel Sports Football Club & Sonny Phillips

I am currently researching the Tunnel Sports Football Club, later known as Tunnel F.C. then known as Dartford Amateurs and later Dartford Glentworth in the 1970's. The Club were formed just after the 2nd world war in and around the Rotherhithe area by Sonny Phillips.
I am interested in all aspects and times of this club but in particular, the mid 1960's when they located out to Sidcup and then in 1966 to Dartford Football Club for the 1966-67 and 1967-68 seasons. If anyone has any information or mementos of this club at this time please get in touch. I am in touch with 3 of their mid-1960's players so far but would like to hear from more please. Thanks all. You can either post to My Bermondsey or directly to me at  Mail-me

Hello Tony, My name is Mick Holloway, I played for tunnel sports from 1966 when I was 16 years old, starting in the reserve side but progressing to the first team. We had some great times turning over some of the more established sides in the kent league who came from the old southern league. Danny Connely was a good friend who introduced me to the club. I remember Barry wadley was the captain of the reserve side. The players I remember are, Raymond Rispoli in goal, Alan Hodges, Ian Dorney,Les Norris, Roy Eels,Brian Hodley,Tex ritter . Many others, I also played for Kingstonians for a couple of seasons, also rochester way social, my fathers team Bert Holloway. Fantastic times. My e-mail address is  Mail-me . would be good to hear from anyone concerned

Mail-me . Ernie Owers was my Uncle. His sister was my Aunt Doris who was married to John Horlor. All the Owers brothers and sisters are now dead. Aunt Doris died in 2012 a couple of months after John Horlor. They were living in Bexleyheath. Uncle Ernie died aged 88, I think in 2001. Well I went to his funeral at leatherhead where he had moved from Elephant and Castle after moving from Alscot road. Aunt Rose died a short time after. His son Martin lives at Great Bookham surrey. Rotherhithe Driscolls of Rotherhithe? Family connections?

I am still on the hunt of anything to do with Driscoll's and any family relationships in this area. They were part of the Immaculate Conception church, (St Mary's?)...I think. There are some records that another family member was able to find. Her Mary Driscoll (b about 1857) married John McCarthy. Itt would seem that most of my Annie Driscoll's siblings perished of TB, or died giving birth. Of 10 children only 3 women survived to have living children, Maybank's, McCarthy's and Hollingsworths (who were reverted to maiden name Driscoll). They lived in Hanover st (1871), Clarkes Orchard, then Elephant Lane. John B 1834 ish and Kate O'Neill (Neale) died between 1901 and 1906. I am interested in any photographs of this area - and of course any Driscoll's or related families. I am sure John had brothers, at the least, who also settled in this area. Any help will be really appreciated. My G Grandmother Annie Driscoll worked in the Bermondsey area, as a convenience operator, until s

Rotherhithe Searching for information for Kents or Browns of Culling Road Rotherhithe SE16

I am keen to find anyone who may have known either the Kents or Browns of Culling Road Rotherhithe. Trying gather together some family information. I do know my great grandfather was a lighterman and belonged to the conservative club. This would have been a very long time ago. I do know the family had a direct hit on their house during the war.
Any information would be greatly welcome.

Rotherhithe Driscolls

Hi There, I have a few Driscolls in my family tree and all lived in Bermondsey. The first one was a Mary Driscoll (nee Cushion) married William Driscoll - had a son Daniel b1860 and a Daughter Hannah b1862. There is also a Cathrine b1827 d1901. There is a bit of confusion as two Driscolls married two cushions at different times but am sure they are all related in some way. I have a tree on Genes Reunited and you are free to view it if it helps.
Regards,
Sheila
