I subsequently moved to Canada in 1975 and now live in British Columbia and West London. My name is David Phillips my dad's name was Jame's Phillips (Sonny) my mum's name was Elizabeth (Liz or Bib) maiden name Purser, my sister's name is Sandra. I was a fireman after I left school (Thomas Calton) stationed at Euston and then New Cross until I emigrated in '75. I'd love to hear from anyone who lived there at that time whether you remember me or not, we might have mutual friends. Thanks and all the best. Dave. PS: We used to go in the Waverley fairly often. Peckham MY POSTINGi posted a request for people that knew me in the 50/60' in peckham. I dont see it! Post reply -->London Peckham 3 Apr Peckham Did you know Jack?I am trying to put together something special for a dear but frail old friend of mine and have been tracing the name of old employees at his workplace Evan Cooks around 1952 - in particular at their garage which was 72 Queens Road, Peckham SE London. One name eludes me, I understand he may have been the manager and was named 'Jack'. I'm told he lived in Morden but cannot find his surname. If any of your readers have information, memories or photos they can share I would be so pleased. Many thanks. Post reply -->London Peckham 27 Mar Peckham Peckham/BrockleyHi, I lived in Peckham and Brockley in the 50's. Are their any of my old aquaintances still about? I am Phil Jones, my brothers were Alan & Bert. Mail-me Post reply -->London Peckham Phil 5 Mar ^ PeckhamThanks Phil, very interesting, never knew there was so much interest in Peckham, any reaction? Bert Post reply -->London Peckham Bert (jonesalbert@hotmail.com) 10 Mar Peckham Family HouseshareAre you interested in communal family living? We are looking for two other families with young children to get together and rent a house. We have one son who will be 3yrs old in May. We would like to experience living in a co-operative, communal environment, benefitting everyone involved: -children can play together and learn from each other -parents can share skills and childcare -bigger living space and garden -more economical consumption The idea is to rent a 6 or 7 bedroom house so that everyone can have their own space while also having communal areas. Ideally, we would like to live in Brockley/New Cross but we are flexible. This is clearly a long-term plan as we would have to get to know one another and discuss our expectations, so we are in no hurry to move and everything would be very informal to begin with. If you are interested please email Mail-me Post reply -->London Peckham Ruby 11 Feb Peckham 1952 Evan Cook Employees namesPosted this again Does anybody know any old employees of Evan Cooks around this time - we understand apart from the main depot/storage area the company also had some sort of garage along Queens Road -We are trying to put together a collection of 'special memories' for someone very dear - names of the staff, old photos, etc. would be brilliant. I used to love the smell of the place and sorting through the wood for nice bits to play with. I found enough nice mahogany to make a shoe blacking box which I still use. Crude but it does bring back such wonderful memories. All the best, Dave.
