I was in Miss Moss's class A1 - A2-A3 is there anybody out there who remembers these days. Nobody was ever stabbed or took drugs, what happy days. Larry the Lamb.... Mr Lester was the head master and Miss Jones .I think..the headmistress. I even enjoyed the school meals, I managed to get to play for the school cricket team just once. The entrance to the air raid shelter was our goal when we were playing football..with a tennis ball...in the playground. The answer I give you is as a 30 year old male who has lived there for 2 years, and isn't particularly well-built - NO. From my experience of living all over London is that everywhere has its elements of danger, but unless you're somehow involved with 'trouble' people (sorry, crap word I know but couldn't think of a better one) or frequent the dodgy establishments, then you're ok. I have personally never witnessed or heard any crime. However, I don't go out in Leyton - because there's nowhere decent to go. First week, burglars stole my handbag at home (they were watching me through the open window) and one of my neighbour got stabbed to death few weeks later (drugs matter I believe). However, over the past 6 years, I haven't witnessed any other crime (thank god for that!). I guess if you avoid "trouble" people there is no reason to feel in danger. Waltham Forest is one of the 4 worst london boroughs for gang violence according to the met - And Id imagine as someone who grew up in leyton that most of that stuff is going on in leyton,south l'stone parts. I left 10 years ago - by that time alot of towerblocks and estates had been demolished and more have been demolished since. I reckon without oliver close, cathall, boundary road,all those grimey grimey high rise estates, leyton must be a half decent area nowadays. Is there a trombonist out there who wants to join the grooviest Ska band there is, based vaguely in the Walthamstow area? Commitment levels required are low, we're all around 30 and not bothered with chasing fame, but we do like serious enthusiasm, which is more important than excessive talent (although that would be nice!). Post reply -->London Leyton Doc 10 Oct ^ LeytonHi there....dont think i know of a trombonist,but theres a pukka sKa band playing this saturday down at The Standard in Walthamstow called UB4T,with a nice little brass section(opposite blackhorse tube btw)they do a bit of everything reggae/ska related and realy is a great night out....not sure if this helps but you might find some like minded people there..! He lived in Langthorne Rd and his then wife Irene was propietor of a cafe next door to a car repair garage. Harry boy was well know in the Halfway Inn on Leytonstone high st, he was a chain smoker.
