Enjoying myself so far, but finding it a bit lonely. Anyone have any suggestions for me? Places to go, things to do locally that would help me meet people in the local area. I'm hoping to find a good yoga place, too, so if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. Post reply -->London Kennington RK 23 Jan ^ Kennington One yoga place and free tai chi!Hey there, For yoga, deepaspirit is pretty good - between Oval and Stockwell, and there's also free tai chi at the oval cricket ground on saturday. The Pacific bar is great for socialising but perhaps not on your own! Enjoy. Post reply -->London Kennington Michael Bell 7 Dec Kennington HURLEY ROAD KENNINGTON LANEI was born at 15 Hurley Rd Kenninton Lane in 1949 - my name was Margo Hathaway and I enjoy reading about all the names of the old streets around Kennington. Some of the names from Hurley Rd were the Heddermans, Mangans, St Johns, Kettles, May, Rumbles, like everyone else I was sent to Bob White's for the shell fish - I didn't go to the school around the corner I went to Crampton Primary just off the Butts - when I go back for a look around at all the new buildings I can't really say they are much of an improvement - all the streets seem souless - the houses I knew as a kid seemed to have much more about them than the faceless ones I saw. We had shops on the corners - Barrs, Farrars, Queenies and the pub the East Arms on another corner - it wasn't luxury but I have some good memories of the place before I moved to Peckham in 1963 - now live in the West Country but would love to hear from anyone that remembers me and my brother Rick Post reply -->London Kennington mawalsh@tiscali.co.uk 26 Oct Kennington Sancroft StreetHi there I am new to the area and been doing a little private research about its history and stumbled accross a number of WW2 photos. Can anyone advise whether there is easy parking near the library, or would I be better travelling by tube. Also, does anyone remember Jimmy O'Shea (my uncle) who lived in Tracey Street? He wanted to keep memories of old lambeth alive and in his memory I have set up a blogsite at jimmyslambeth.blogspot.com. She was attacked by two brothers in or around '95. Im trying to get information but the police are reluctant to tell me about it. I know it was ten years ago but i found out years later. Her sisters wanted it kept secret for some reason and i can respect that, but i would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about it please. She lived with Bert who died not long before and they used to work at the Criterion in London.
