Post or Ask something here in 'Finsbury' ^ FinsburyI live in lancaster road at the moment and have done for the last 5 year in a house share, it's a really nice place to live, I have never felt unsafe - they have neighbout watch which is great. The area is great - not far from crouch end and there are some nice restaurants on Stroud green road. I throughly recommend Lancaster Road Post reply -->London Finsbury lancaster road ^ Finsbury its not too bad...my friends have just moved there. It's a bit of a long walk from major bus routes would be my only criticism, but as an area it seems quite safe and reasonably quiet. Post reply -->London Finsbury Sami 10 Nov ^ Finsbury Finsburys good for shopping..clothes and African foodschilled out area, but taxi's ain't that expensive. close to the cinema, and loadz of buses to everywhere. I'm on Tollington, and I find its a great place to live, quiet when you need it to be but close enough to fun Post reply -->London Finsbury P 30 Nov Finsbury Tai Chi in Bethnal Green Beginners CoursesTAI CHI. Post reply -->London Finsbury Jackie Finsbury Perfect locationI have lived in Finsbury Park for 1 1/2 years and find it is perfectly placed. I live in Wilberforce Road. 10 mins walk to Stoke Newington, a short Bus ride to Camden, Wood Green, Old Street, town centre etc...Perfect for my work. Find the area friendly and the culture mixed and vibrant. Pubs are ok and packed on match days and restaurants excellent (I like 'Equisite' Mexican and 'The Vine Leaf'). All the shops and takeaways you could need. Can eat Eritrean,Etheopian,Algerian, other African, Mexican, Greek, Italian, West Indian,Turkish,Kurdish etc..all within a few minutes walk. Have enjoyed living here and would recommend it. Side roads like Wilberforce are traffic controlled and can be nice and peaceful. Post reply -->London Finsbury location culture vibrant restaMark ^ Finsbury I love Finsbury Park.If I were incredibly rich, sure, I'd move to Highbury up the road. But for the value-for-money and convenience its just a fabulous area to live. Markets, fresh fish/meat/fruit & veg, cheap street stalls, supermarkets, dodgey cigarette guys, cheap cafes and good restaurants. When (if?) they open the bar just opposite the station, that'll be great. Nylon and Babushka are run by the same team apparently. The Odeon cinema on Holloway Rd. The Sobell sports centre. Yeah - I love it and I've lived here 2.5 years when previously I'd been in Vauxhall, Chelsea and Willesden Green. Post reply -->London Finsbury bar club ^ Finsbury Best Bars in Finsbury ParkDefinatly the Landseer bar, (great for Sunday Lunch) tucked away on Ladseer Rd. Chapter One, the Old Dairy and the Swimmer of Holloway rd. Post reply -->London Finsbury ^ Finsbury Finsbury pubThe Twelve Pins is a lively genuine irish bar. Good food at a really decent price. Live bands on a Friday and Saturday night and open til 1am. Post reply -->London Finsbury ^ Finsbury The Twelve Pins!It really is a great pub. My aunt/uncle own it so don't wreck it. I dare you to wear a Cork/Mayo GAA jersey there. You'll find out soon enough... Mail-me Post reply -->London Finsbury BOB 8 Oct ^ Finsbury Good MexicanYes, try Blackstock Road (towards the Highbury end) for 'Exquisite', a great Mexican restaurant. Cozy, atmospheric, music ok and they do take-away. The Vine Leaf is also recommended. For a summer coffee try Simm Simm at the Fins Park station end. There is a small walled garden to the rear topped with scented Honeysuckle. Mark (Wilberforce Road) Post reply -->London Finsbury eat evening after closing time ^ Finsbury Good foodTry 'Exquisite' at Highbury end of Blackstock road for good Mexican (big portions!) and graet atmosphere. The Vine Leaf is also good. For a summer coffee try Sim Sim at other end. It has a walled garden at rear topped with scented honeysuckle in mid-late summer. Mark (Wilberforce Road) Post reply -->London Finsbury eat evening after closing timeMark ^ Finsbury Noisy but livelyMy address at Finsbury Park is "Pappagone" on Stroud Green rd (after Tesco's)...The best staff you can meet, very warm and truly welcoming (all italians), good pizzas (so far the best ones in London), the music's a bit loud but the staff seem to need it, anyway that's part of the place's very good atmosphere !!Definitely nice. Post reply -->London Finsbury ^ Finsbury Good mini cab companyI have been using Capital Cabs on Stroud Green Road for years and they have been reliable and helpful 7272 2612 Post reply -->London Finsbury ^ Finsbury cab firmok, they're actually based on stokey church st but i've used them for years and have always found them reliable and safe, plus the cars are all pretty new and don't appear to have been welded back together and mended with string, which is always a bonus. and believe me i've been in some scary cabs in my time. they are 'premier cars' (used to be called defoe) and the no. is 7249 2299. Post reply -->London Finsbury ^ Finsbury I agree, Premier Cabs are goodVery reliable, not a rip-off, been in business for years which is surely a good sign. Post reply -->London Finsbury Sorcha 20 May ^ Finsbury Band D council tax is about £990 a year.^ Finsbury Council TaxI'm moving in with 4 students, but I'm gonna be working(hopefully), which means I'll be paying council tax : ( Does anyone have any idea how much per month it will be for just me? The other 4 are council tax exempt. I'll be living somewhere on Blackstock Road Post reply -->London Finsbury Chazi 28 Aug ^ Finsbury Theres a Sainsburys on Green Lanes and a Tesco that delivers.Since you have internet access, why don't you go to the Sainsbury's and Tesco's web sites and put in N4 to search for the nearest shops? Post reply -->London Finsbury supermarket romance friend ^ Finsbury Safeway and Waitrose on Holloway RoadDont forget the other end of Finsbury Park where it hits Holloway. Loads of shops along Holloway Road. Post reply -->London Finsbury supermarket romance friend ^ Finsbury Football ClubsJust take a 5 minute walk around Finsbury Park or Clissold Park on a Saturday and Sunday and you will be impressed with the number of football teams playing - all kitted and some teams bring additional blow up goal posts too. Not sure if they come up to your standards but enthusiasm and passion are not lacking. Post reply -->London Finsbury Christine 28 May ^ Finsbury PoolTry Clissold (Park) recr centre. It has a 25 meter pool and is brandnew, more or less. Hans Post reply -->London Finsbury ^ Finsbury Gym on Seven Sisters RdHello There is a 'Fitness First' on Seven Sisters Road (towards Holloway). Dont know if it is pricy Post reply -->London Finsbury Mark ^ Finsbury Fitness Firstis 44 pounds a month, but includes free video rentals, (good selection) But does not have many DVDs (6 or 7). Staff is friendly, the gym is clean! NOT like Sobel Leisure Centre down the street - not very good. Post reply -->London Finsbury ^ Finsbury Private GymsHolmes Place on Holloway Road - Excellent!. Fitness First on Seven Sisters - Never been. There is also the Sobel Leisure Centre on Isledon Road - I've heard mixed reports about it. Post reply -->London Finsbury Christine 28 May ^ Finsbury it is £40 amonth, and can have use anything^ Finsbury I think youll find trains (overground/underground)...... are packed wherever you live in London during the peak travelling times. The closer you live to the centre of London the less chance you have of *ever* being able to sit down in the morning. This cannot be a reason to avoid any particular area of London - it could be a reason to avoid London at all though. Post reply -->London Finsbury tube train transport ^ Finsbury Trains from Finsbury Park are ok......as it's not too far into the centre of town so you don't spend too long on them. The Piccadilly and Victoria lines are not often disrupted. I don't find it too awful! Post reply -->London Finsbury tube train transport ^ Finsbury Finsbury Park Station has 2 tubes and the overland......and whilst that's great, I have been using buses only for about 18 months. We are just so well catered for as far as transport goes. Bus up to Camden, down to Islington, and get into the West End and City by loads of different routes. Its half the price to go on buses rather than on tubes. I go from Finsbury Park to Queensway (via Camden) daily in an hour at peak times.
And for city workers tired of sitting at their desks - it only takes you 50 minutes to walk to Bank/St.Pauls/Moorgate. Post reply -->London Finsbury tube train transport ^ Finsbury GPThere is a good GP on umfreville road. Dr. Deo and Lipditch (sorry spelling might not be correct). Post reply -->London Finsbury |
