Deptford Grinstead Road 1946 / 52Hello everyone. I was born at 20 Grinstead Road in a Prefab in August 1946 my sister followed exactly 3 years later. My dads name was Reg McDonnell. He had a large family , his mum living on Grove Street. For some reason after we moved to Kent / South Yorkshire we lost touch with his family. If anyone knows them and can put me in touch i'd be extremely grateful. The only staff names I recall were Mrs Stimson and Mr Lord. The school still looks pretty much the same as from my time but the surroundings have certainly changed! I'm tracing my family tree - my family all come from Deptford (we're all still fairly local) and on my great grandmother's baptism record it states her parents were living at the White House in Creek Road. I'm looking for any photos of their home and any information on my grandfather in particular Robert William who served in WW1 Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment gassed twice. Or any thing on how life was during the 30's and 40's. I believe they were bombed out. Henry John was evacuated to Devon/Cornwall I think. Any replies welcome.
