Crystal Palace swimming pool

I am moving to Gipsy Hill very soon. It would be great if you could recommend me a swimming pool in the area (apart from the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre). Thank you!

Brockwell Park Lido is the alternative. Just been refurbished after lottery funding. However, it's outdoor and opens only during the summer months into autumn.

Crystal Palace

I can recommend the facilities at Beckenham leisure centre. It is a short bus ride from Crystal Palace (bus 245 I think!) past Penge. Nice clean facilities, quiet pool, spa centre with jacuzzi, steam room & sauna.

Crystal Palace Dreadful estate agent in Crystal Palace - DO NOT USE!!

If you're thinking of selling your property, take this as a warning - do not use STREETS AHEAD - they are absolutely diabolical - I found out the hard way!

Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Unhappy seller 26 Sep

Crystal Palace STREETS AHEAD

I totally agree. I used them to sell my flat in Crystal Palace, they turned up unannounced, trying to let them selves in twice, on a saturday morning while I was sick and asleep. Totally unprofessional reduced the price of my property on their webiste, caused problems with potential buyers, when I received an offer of my asking proce was told buyer was ready to go, only to find out she didn't even have her mortgage in place.

Crystal Palace Auckland Road

I'd be greatful for some general feedback on Auckland Road, SE19 i.e. positive or negative comments. Your welcome to email me at  Mail-me

It seems to be a nice part of Crystal Palace and looks like a nice park nearby.

Look forward to hear from you.

Crystal Palace re Auckland Road

Hi

I live just off Auckland Road. Great road with some fantastic victorian buildings. Also local doctors' surgery located on road as well-handy. Norwood lakes park is very nice-there's a little wooded walk way that gets you to Maberly rd and running around the boating pond is great (if you're an angler you can also join the local club). Harris tech school also has sports facilities you can use and gym membership.

Crystal Palace Reply 2 Aucland Road

It is a lovely area if u do not mind kids roaming around as there are a few schools around but it is a lovely area and quite quiet most of the time.

Crystal Palace Its a nice area

I live on Hamlet Road which leads into Auckland Road from the Anerley Hill direction.

Its a lovely green area, residential and peaceful. I know that Hamlet Road is a conservation area so nothing large and hideous can be built there, and assume Auckland is too. It is a short walk (uphill naturally!) to the Triangle.

Its also close to the train station and the wonderful Crystal Palace Park (+ the sports centre). I can recommend the Auckland Surgery if you need a doctor.

I have lived here for 2 and a half years and every day am still pleased that I chose this area to move to.

I am moving to Crystal Palace in the next month. Does anyone know of a good boxercise class (or simular) or alternatively a good street dance class? I've heard pole dancing classes are worth a go...any comments?  Mail-me

You could try the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. The swimming pool is hughe, 50 metres. I think they also do aerobics and other workout classes.

Crystal Palace Transport Links

Hi, I'm thinking of moving to Crystal Palace but I'm put off by the transport links from Central London after midnight

Can anyone confirm just how difficult/easy it is to get back to CP in the early hours, particularly at weekends.

Crystal Palace bus links from west end to Crystal Palace

Hiya

I've lived here for over 5 years and work in the west end. If I'm out after the last train (at 11.37pm) has gone I either take the tube to Brixton and pick up a number 3 or 432 bus, or, if it's after the tubes stop running, I take a number 3 bus all the way home.

It takes about 45 mins but, the advantages are:
1. You don't have to walk up either or the huge hills (which you encounter when taking the train to either Crystal Palace or Gipsy Hill
2. Most of buses on the no 3 route terminate at Crystal Palace so no danger of falling asleep and ending up atsome unheard of destination.

There are also loads of great restuarants and several cool pubs/bars locally - which are handy if you have friends to go out with in the area.

Crystal Palace HELL NO...

my girlfriend lives there, its a total nightmare to get to.. we go out in the west end and if she has to go home to CP she is clock watching from 10pm onwards and you have to make your way in time for overground stations to charing cross.. nightbuses really go through all of south and south east london and AVOID them. You could go to Clapham and get a bus from there? A taxi was 60 quid!!

Crystal Palace buses...

Buses from central london to crystal palace bus station late at night aren't too shabby. The number 3 runs all through the night from Oxford Circus and up to crystal palace, which is pretty useful if you're out and about in central london, and its pretty reliable too.

Post reply -->London Crystal Palace 17 Mar

^

Crystal Palace N3 is your best friend

The N3 runs every half an hour through the night and you can be in CP from central London in under 40mins. As far as night buses go, the N3 totally rocks! Depending on what end of CP you are moving to you can also get the 176, also a 24hr service. And come to think of it you could get the N68 if you lived nearer Westow hill end...

Crystal Palace Easy to get home at night

Yep - I agree. It does seem that CP is miles out but its easy to get home late at night.

If you miss the last train you can catch a bus (N3 from Regent Street for example) which goes to the bus terminus at the triangle. Or get the tube to Brixton and get a bus from there.

Or if you are really bone idle/filthy rich you can get a mini cab for about £30!

Crystal Palace

I am thinking of renting out a share flat near crystal palace museum. I'm working in Waterloo area - would anyone tell me how difficult it is to get to/from crystal palace - waterloo..please help!

Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Pare 29 Jan

^

Crystal Palace

The number 3 bus, which you can catch from the main bus station on Cyrstal Palace Parade (opposite entrance to the park - can't miss it) goes to Victoria via Lambeth. If you get out at Lambeth Palace stop, you are obviously only a few hundred yards from Waterloo Station area. Of course, as you know, buses can be quite slow, so maybe you would prefer to get an overland train to Victoria and then try link to Waterloo that way, although that could ultimately be just as time-consuming.

Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Mike 5 Feb

^

Crystal Palace

Really easy by bus, bike or car. I work near Waterloo and it's fine. You could also use the trains to W'loo East from CP which take about 15 mins.

Crystal Palace Route from Crystal Palace to Waterloo

Take the train from Crystal Palace to London Bridge (takes 20-25 minutes) then the tube to Waterloo. (1 stop on the Jubilee Line).

Crystal Palace Reliable Heating Engineer Wanted!!

Can anyone recommend a good, reliable heating engineer? Our boiler stopped working 2 weeks ago and although we've had 3 men out to look at it, 2 of them have then not called back to arrange a time to fix it and the other promised to order parts but has now gone awol!
