Clerkenwell Ironmonger Street

Is there anyone here who remembers Ironmonger street and the surrounding area?
I went to Moorfields (Bath Street) School, I was born 1947, there were many people whom lived around there that I have lost touch with over the years.
Many of thekids stayed with their grans to attend Bath Street school, so I never saw them after school like those who lived in Bath, Radnor, Peerless, Baldwin, Mitchell, Bartholemew Sq, plus others I have forgotten. If anyone wishes to correspond I would appreciate it.

Clerkenwell WATCH OUT FOR VIE GYM

Just thought I would ensure that no one else falls into the same trap that I did, I unwittingly joined Vie gym in January thinking that it was a friendly and value for money gym near my work. However it has turned out to be a nightmare I decided to terminate my membership after I moved and was assured that all I had to do was hand in a letter of resignation which I did...4 months later my bank contacts me with regards to a standing order I have with my gym...the same gym I had left 4 months previously, that had promised me that my membership had been terminated etc...I ring the gym thinking that this is just a simple mistake and that they would reimburse me suddenly not the friendly gym they once were they did not reimburse me and told me sorry I should have received a letter and they assumed I still wanted to be a member...they still owe me over 250 that they will not return. Tread carefully with this gym they may be cheap but there is a reason for it

Clerkenwell Help needed with research in Clerkenwell

Can't find some ancestors called Charles and Sophia Embury who lived in St. James, Clerkenwell in 1805. This is confirmed because they had two children baptised in Lady Huntingdon's Chapel in Spa Fields. If any research enthusiasts are out there and have done work on this area, or have come across these names, I would love to hear from you.

Clerkenwell Anyone want to start an I Love Clerkenwell Community Group??

My name is Clarke and my friend's name is Will. He is from New Zealand. We both love Clerkenwell. Will thinks it's better than heaven. And he should know...he's been there (a nasty tractor accident on the farm near Auckland...whoah). Anyway - we're going to start a community group and anyone from Clerkenwell is welcome. The main objective of our group is to celebrate living in Clerkenwell. This can be done in so many ways, but details can be worked out later.

See you neighbours!

Clarke and Will.

Dear Clarke and Will,

What a great idea! I was sorry to hear about your tractor accident. Heaven sounds nice, but I'm glad you've come back to Clerkenwell to join us. I'd love to joing your community group. It could be like heaven, only in Clerkenwell (or nearby if absolutely necessary). Please let me know the details and watch out for tractors!!!!

Love Gemma

Clerkenwell Answer to "Anybody know of a good laundrette"

There's a launtrette on Exmouth market and several dry cleaners around, if you are on west side of clerkenwell rd, try the one on Chancery lane near the station, they are good and reasonable.

The only Liverpool Rd in the area is in Angel. Very close to Clerkenwell, it runs parallel to Upper St. between Angel and Higbury tube stations.

Hope this helps.

Clerkenwell It was Finsbury

Before 1965 that bit of Liverpool Road came under the Metropolitan Borough of Finsbury and Clerkenwell was part of Finsbury.
Where I work we've got maps to show all this.
A lot of people assume that the Angel and Pentonville were in Islington and that Pentonville Road was the boundary, not true!
