Canning Town SPIRITUALISTS/MEDIUMS IN CANNING TOWN

Hi Everyone
Does anyone out there know anything about a quite well known medium who used to be at the back of Rathbone Market somewhere. She was probably my great grandmother and her surname would have been either Bull or Blake I think! Apparently big flash cars would all be lined up there. Don't know dates - could be anything from 1900 up the 1950s I suppose. A long shot but it would be so nice to know!  Mail-me

Canning Town 42 Nelson Street, Canning Town

Our great grandfather Edgar Hunt Beech grew up at this address and this weekend we went in search of the house he may have been born in also. I can get the date of his birth but it would have been about 1870. He and his family moved to India where he married my great grandmother whose surname was Fitzgerald (I think he married in India but it may have been earlier) in February of 1900 and my grandmother and her siblings were born. I know this is going way back and wouldn't expect anyone to recollect anything of my family but does anyone have photos of Nelson Street when there were houses there or could they tell me what happened to the houses. Thanks  Mail-me

Canning Town

Looking for any information on my MURPHY family from Plaistow and Canning Town. My grandfathers name was Richard Patrick Murphy born in 1906, Canning Town. He had three sisters, Margaret, Sarah and Eileen. He also had two brothers, James and Edward. James emigrated to Australia, Edward and Richard came to New Zealand.
Their parents were James Murphy and Bridget Harman.
I am also looking for information about the Harman family.
James and Bridget lived at 11 Blanche Street in the 1901 census. Previous to this they were in Denmark Street.

Canning Town MY ROOTS ARE IN CANNING TOWN

I suppose it would be too good to be true if anyone remembers the Smith Family of No.64 Wouldham Street and if any of their decendants are still around?
From the 1891 census I have established the following were living there :-

James Smith (My Great Grandfather)
Matilda Smith (My Great Grandmother)
Thomas Smith
Aleizadra Smith
Catherine Smith
Alfred Smith (My Grandfather)
Mary Smith

As near as I can tell, my Grandfather joined the merchant navy and emmigrated to NZ in about 1903. He lost touch with the rest of his family and didn't even talk much about them to his children (he died when I was 9).

It would be great to track down some living relatives or fill holes in the family tree, so if you remember anything or can offer suggestions where i could look it would be appreciated.

I can be contacted on  Mail-me
Thanx

Canning Town What Is going on!!

I have worked for forty years.I was made redundant
last year after twenty years at my last job.
No one In Canning Town wants to employ me I suspect
because of my age.And to top It all my advisor at the jobcentre who looks about twenty accused me of not trying hard enough!.I was dumb struck I told him that I have paid more In tax and Insurance than he has earned In the short time that he has been working
and that the sixty pound a week tgey give me is less
than I was paying in tax and that I am fully entitled to It
needless to say he appollergised,
So be warned any one out there If you have worked all your life and paid your dues It will count for nothing!!
This will most proberbly end up In the sin bin

Canning Town What Is going on

Following on from my last post.I recently applied for a
job road sweeping good honest work. Plenty of fresh air
needless to say It was an agency.I filled out various
forms produced approppriate Identification.I was then asked If I had any experience I replied what sort of experience. She replied why road sweeping of course.
I then replied how much experience do you need to push a broom. She said are you ex council I said no,
She said In that case you will have go on an health and safety course which I would have to fund myself all
that just to push a broom,If you cant get a job sweeping streets what chance Is there,
I know this isnt the correct forum to use. I just want people In Canning Town to know what It Is like trying to get work In a place you have been proud to live all your life,
