Camberwell Dalwood St / Havil Road

My family were forced to move from Grummet Rd (Walmer Castle) to Dalwood St in the 60's after the pre-fabs were knocked down an awful tower block built in their place.
We lived in a small block of flats close to the exit where St.Giles Hospital once loomed. My fondest memory is Julie martin, she lived upstairs and I would love to meet her again (email  Mail-me ). My Family was myself, David Barnard, and my grand parents, Bert & Lily Barnard. My teenage years were not something to be proud of but I sorted myself out and now live and work in China. Look forward to anyone with like memories

I lived with my family The Picks and The Cathcarts in Tamerton street in 1950 and 60's. I recall the water dump I believe caused by a V1 falling on the houses in the war. .I lived at 15. Mrs Ashcroft lived next door. The sweet shop at the end of the road. Also an a junk shop and a vegetalbe shop on the corner run by two borthers. There was a rag storage place at the other end of the road. Great times but smog was a nuisance.

I remember the grocers on the corner and the Rag shop (Dentons) at the top of the road.i have no photos of me or my family in those times I'm afraid, but like 'Spud' I was a pretty skinny lad.
I also left school in1959,do you remember two girls there that were friends, their names were Kathleen Young and MaryCosta?
Last saw Pat in 1967 when he was my best man.

Hi Tony, yes,we lived right next to the 'water tank', Think the houses that we're missing were No's 8 and 10.
The Grocers were on the corner as you say run by two brothers, the Rag Storage place was Dentons, they also had a scrap metal yard further up Farmers Rd.
Then there was the Butter factory too,the sweet shop was over in Farmers Rd as was the Dairy and Cobblers run by a Welsh Family.

Hi Everybody.Thomas,I am Arthur Rotchell's son,my mum was Dorothy,my sister is Sheila and my brothers were George and Peter, both now sadly deceased.
I'm sorry but have absolutely no photos whatsoever of those days, but dad did have a faded tattoo of a boxer on his arm if that helps,
He died around 1961 of a coronary thrombosis,he was also a diabetic.
You have found the correct branch of the Rotchell family for Arthur Edward Rotchell,Will keep my eye out for more of your posts if I can remember how I found this site.!!
