The school was called Caldecot. I have since moved away and was looking for a friend of mine that was called Marlene Teuwit (not sure of the spelling) is there any one out there who can shed light on what happened to my school? Just got a few questions really. Is it one of the safer areas of Camberwell, eg. ok walking home from night buses alone? What's that part of Camberwell like generally? I'd really appreciate it if someone could reply by emailing me: Mail-me or just replying to this post on the forum. Thanks, Post reply -->London Camberwell Miranda 7 May ^ CamberwellI live in Crofton Road, which is just next door. It's generally a pretty friendly part of Camberwell, with a mixture of families and students from the college. We still have neighbours that look out for each other! I've been here for three years and neither I nor my (female and male) housemates have had a problem. The main road is pretty busy, so from that point of view its safe for night busses. Of course, it's still London, so things may happen... I am abit dubious as I have heard that the area is rough but that there is alot of regeneration going on. What do you think? Post reply -->London Camberwell R Peterson 3 Jan ^ CamberwellSeriously... regeneration? i ve been living in Camberwell for 13 years now they always say it will improve and it has only gotten worse. They might make it look prettier and extend the pavements but the problem in camberwell lies wth some of the thugs that live in the area..they belive they own the streets and love to intimidate and more. Improving the area wont change criminals. If i was you i would pay a little more and live somewhere else. i live off the walworth road and every member in my family has been either mugged or assulted walking home at night. If you or your friend is a woman then from a 20 year old woman don't live here i walk home in a skii jaket to not attrac attention to myself. even putting on mke up in his area makes some off the scum here think they can just grab you. Camberwell is a cheap area in central london but it's cheap for a reason. Post reply -->London Camberwell alex20 6 Feb ^ CamberwellHi there, I'm sorry that Alex has such a negative view of the area, I've lived on the western side of Camberwell New Road for nearly a year now and I've never had any trouble. I'm a female in my 20s too! I'm friends with my neighbours and don't feel threatened at night, although I admit there are some areas where I would, thankfully I don't need to go near them! There is a gorgeous park in the area which hosts a lot of community events which are always well supported. I do need to emphasise where your flat is has a big impact on your view of Camberwell Post reply -->London Camberwell GW 22 Feb ^ Camberwell Camberwell is great!I'm surprised Alex thinks its so bad. I've lived on Eastlake rd for 14 years and love it here. The side streets off Coldharbour lane are really quiet and nice to live in and I've never had any trouble on the street. Brixton tube used to feel really dodgy but its miles better now. The Sun and Doves is a great pub and there are loads of good places to eat and go out in Brixton and Camberwell. Its really quick into central London too. Post reply -->London Camberwell HD 29 Apr Camberwell Why I like CamberwellHi there. I find living here overlooking Burgess Park very quiet and life has been completely incident free since I moved here 18 months ago. It's extremely convenient for the west end and buses from here take one to almost anywhere in london. There are some good food places in Camberwell Green and watering holes as well. The Red Star is allegedly the best "mixed" venue in South London. Post reply -->London Camberwell Prean 28 Dec ^ Camberwell Agreed!I have been living in Camberwell since June when I took the plunge and bought a flat here, I have to say that although some people might think it has it's rough patches, I absolutely love it here! I take the bus to work everyday and it's quicker and cheaper than the Tube, plus I have been very impressed with the pubs I have visited thus far. My only complaint is that around where I live near Myatts Fields, there seems to be a proliferation of lazy dog owners who let their dogs poop all over the pavement and don't clear it up, which angers and disgusts me, but if that's the worst complaint I can muster it's not too bad really!
