Post or Ask something here in 'Bayswater' ^ BayswaterDear Kate, I no longer live in Bayswater, but I do know of some great places in the neighborhood where you can meet the locals. On Westbourne Grove, a few doors from Blockbuster Video, there is a small Austrian pub and resturaunt called the Tiroler Hut. It serves great food and good beer. Many locals will go there to eat and drink on weeknights. There is another really fun pub where young professionals from the neighborhood hang out called The Bonaparte. It is at the corner of Chepstow and Talbott Rds. I hope that this will be of assisstance to you. Bayswater is a great area and community. I miss it dearly. I've lived here for over a year (Queensway!) and my partner has been her for about 5 years. We are both Kiwi's, and have made some really nice friends from around here. The best pub for what you are after is the Kings Head on Moscow Road - its truely a local's pub (I even ended up doing a stint working there!), and you will find anything from young professionals to resident eccentrics! The bar Oz is ok, but a bit of a dive, the Redan is a slight step up from that, but the owner is a lovely guy. Hope this helps, and might bump into you at the Kings Head one day! We love it, is the best place we have lived in London. Becoming gentrified and The pubs of Moscow Rd and westbourne Grove are great but fdont forget the Bonaparte, the westbourne and the oak, lots of young people who reside in the area drink at these locals as they are further from transport so tend to be more of the local people. Post reply -->London Bayswater Jackie ^ Bayswater the best bars and pubs in Bayswater are...the Slug and Lettuce just off of Westbourne Grove on Hereford Road which always has a pretty good atmosphere - also has a beer garden for the summer, which is quite unusual in bayswater! there is also the Rat and Parrot on Queensway itself which has a good crowd and has lots of promotions for new drinks, etc. for theme bars, there is Bar Oz on Moscow Road which lives up to its name and is a general meeting point for the Aussies, Kiwis and South Africans. Many immigrants live in the area which adds to it's great sense of diversity. There are many pubs and resturaunts in the area. There are also great places to work out and to jog. (The Park) Affordable rent and close proximity to the Central, District, and Circle lines assure an easy commute to anywhere you need to go. It is a really good neighborhood.
