 | Barnes Question about trains to Barnes BridgeI'm meeting a Portugeuse friend at Barnes Bridge station at 19.36 one evening. I've told him to go to Vauxhall at 19.20 and look for the train to Woking. This is what the journey planner tells me. Now it seems very odd that this is the train to Woking - is this correct? Post reply -->London Barnes TransportJeremy G 13 Aug ^ Barnes Vauxhall to Barnes BridgeThe journey planner is corect in that the train does (eventually) end up in Woking; however it is such a long way round that it will probably not be advertised as a Woking train at Vauxhall. It will probably be advertised as "Addlestone via Brentford". Best to tell him to look for a specific time train and to check the indicator on the platform to confirm that the train does stop at Barnes Bridge. It will be either platform 3 or 4 and most trains are announced with all their stopping places - or he can just ask someone on the plaform. Nice to be close to Hammersmith, Putney and Richmond though. Its a definate escape from the niose and pollution of the centre of town. And quite a lot of those are cash purchases. No transport really, but then I guess rich people can do without the essentials. Relaxed, civilised, safe, good transport if I want to go somewhere loud!If you want loud and lairy, this is not it. Try Richmond, Putney or Hammersmith. However, all of these can be reached in 10 mins by public transport. 20 mins Waterloo - can't be bad.
Good bars, quality restaurants. If you are 21 - you'll hate the place. If you have grown up a little since student hedonism, this is a top place to be.

Post reply -->London Barnes ^ Barnesthere is the SUNN IN in barnes pomd and the withe Hart in Hart Lane and the Red Lion, the Coach and Horses. most of these places are traditional english pubs. not fun for young people. But Hammersmith ans Shepher's Bush is not far away!!! you have a really good spanish restaurant, a new italian one and the Sunn in offers traditional english food as pubs. I moved to Barnes when I was 21 and loved every second of it. Good pubs and restaurants, chilled, yet close to clapham, richmond and the centre of town. Love it!
