There's also the big Waitrose and Safeway a short stroll or bus ride down Holloway Road at Nag's Head. It has slides and everything! Not sure if there's gymns etc attached.
Sobell leisure center is a big one with ice rink and everything. That's down towards finsbury park. Post reply -->London Archway harry ^ Archway Archway Leisure Centre in Mc Donald RoadThis centre has a pool (albeit a children's one but they have adult swim session from 6pm every week night) and a gym that's okay. The gym however, is being refurbished to become bigger so it's closed for 3 months, it'll be open again in December/January. They said they are going to keep the pool open and there's a sauna and steam room too. ^ Archway Gym and pool- 2 mins from archway tube. There is a nice gym and a huge pool at the leisure centre 2 mins from tube, just behind library. it's very reasonably priced too! Post reply -->London Archway ^ Archway^ Archway Crouch End LidoThis is far and away the best swimming pool in north London. (Competes with the one in Tooting i reckon) It's a huge outdoor pool that is brilliant in the summer, especially after 5 o'clock on a weeknight during school term term when it's almost half price. Mail-me Post reply -->London Archway blessedisme33@hotmail.com 28 May ^ Archway Not too badHaven't used the trains at Upper Holloway as they don't seem to go anywhere, but Nothern Line service is frequent and I almost always get a seat in rush hour heading south. If you're impatient for a train down your branch and switch over at Camden Town, you might be left standing. In the heart of winter, with the open cut sections starting just two stations north, the trains can be a bit cold in the morning. Post reply -->London Archway tube train transport ^ Archway reliable but packedIt's pretty packed going Southbound from Archway in the morning. I guess the peak rush hour is at about 8a.m. but it's still pretty packed at 9a.m. The Northern Line is one of the better ones in terms of reliability. There's a train every 4 mins. When it breaks, the next train gets really sardine style packed, but luckily this is reasonably rare, and there's plenty of alternative busses for when it breaks completely. So it's still the tube, but all in all, not too bad. Post reply -->London Archway tube train transportharry ^ Archway Northern LineThe station is regularly closed due to "overcrowding". Of course, that could be because there aren't enough trains. Post reply -->London Archway ^ Archway eh?I've lived here two years and used the tube regularly and in that time this has happened once, when the entire line was broken anyway. The Northern Line to me seems to be one of the best oon the network, and I usually manage to get a seat even around 8am Post reply -->London Archway ^ Archway Good doctors- with at least 2 lady docs. The doctors surgery is called ST johns.I think there are 2 or 3 lady docs there. You may have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment though but they do also do emergency appointments and you can get those on the same day if you ask them. the only thing is that your address has to be in the area otherwise they won't take you on. DR Cooper (a male tho) is fantastic. Post reply -->London Archway GP nhs ^ Archway What is it like to live in archway- read on!I have live din ARchway for 2 years. IT is a place where you can get good value for your money in terms of property. Everything is close by, lotsa shops, pubs, a video store, local sainsbury and co-up, gym and cinema. ONly a 20 min bus ride to Angel or Camden. Only 25 min on tube to leicester square- so it's local to everything. it rocks! it's not dangerous, a few fools now and again but i ahve never been bothered and i am a female. the fools are only acting foolish amongst themselves! Post reply -->London Archway ^ Archway Archway if fine !Yeah, Sounds like some people overeact about how un posh it is? I'm moving there shortly and it doesn't compare to how rough it can be in the south New Cross etc. Safe bet for any london virgins wouldn't you agree!
