Ideally she would like to purchase one in the vicinity of Naylor Building West because she is stopping with friends there. The complex has 24hr security and a security pass is required to get in. The space is located on the first floor, which makes it even safer. Post reply -->London Aldgate Ayesha 1 Sep ^ Aldgate advice for aldgateI am a 22 yr old british girl and have lived down lehman st for 2 years down at no1 prescot, and have walked down from aldgate, aldgate east and tower bridge stations alone at all times of morning, day and night safely. when it is quiet i would advise you to stick to the main road routes rather than taking short cuts down the alley ways or taking a friend along with you if travelling after 12pm as there are the occasional gangs hanging around whom i have had the misfortune of bumping into on the way home late at night. I often keep my phone vclose to me and my credit/bank/oyster card in my coat pocket rather than my bag to avoid loosing everything should my bag be stolen. these are general precautions for any part of london at night however, and i think you are perfectly fine walking alone early evening. all the best. Basically it's safe to walk around on your own during the day, it's mostly full of city workers then - bankers and so on. But when dark I would stick to main roads rather than back streets and after about 8pm or so I as a young woman would feel pretty uncomfortable walking alone there. Basically you're not very likely to get attacked there, but you are definitely more likely to have something happen there than anywhere west of there. If you can afford to I would suggest a different area. Good luck Post reply -->London Aldgate YM 26 Apr ^ Aldgate Aldgate EastDuring 1977 I used to work in the Commercial Road, Aldgate East and opposite the London College of Furniture (or was it Fashion). I never felt comfortable in the area as the area seemed in decline. Derelicts were seen sleeping in shop doorways. And on a few occasions I saw a man walking along the middle of the road as the though he was leading an army. The following year I was pleased to be relocated elsewhere. I don't know if the Aldgate East has improved during the past three decades. If things have not changed, and I hope it has, I think the whole area should be redeveloped with better quality housing and facilities. Should you relocate to Aldgate East I wish you every succes. Post reply -->London Aldgate Chris Miller 22 Jun ^ Aldgate very safei have lived and worked in aldgate east for over a year now and walk to and from work (and varying other places!) on my own everyday and i find it to be a very safe and friendly place and have never encountered any trouble what so ever. obviously as with living in any place its best to excersise some common sense, other than that theres really nothing to be scared of! except maybe shadwell...
