Post or Ask something here in 'Retired' Retired O.A.Ps: Are you over 60 years or do you know anyone over 60 years? My email Mail-me Hi, Would they like a social fun group? Is there a market for over 60 clubs? For example, A club for about 10 people over 60 in a local area, to get together maybe once or twice a week, and have a coffee, play some cards, or chess?... What do you think they'd like to do? What woudl you liek to do? Would older people be interested in a film club instead of a book club? For example, coming to a huge hall to watch a film on a wide screen to chat about it after? What would put them off and what would make them be interested? If you are over 60 and in the Richmond area, I would especially like to hear from you. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks. F. Post reply -->London Retired Faye 20 Jan ^ Retired Club for over 60sFilm club sounds great. Also, I enjoy dancing, going to museums, art galleries and theatre. A film club, theatre outings, walks, museum visits and so on. Let me know if you've gotten any responses. Always, N My Mail-me Post reply -->London Retired Nina 5 Feb Retired HELP! Would you use the mobile shop????!!I am thinking of starting up a mobile shop. Maily aimed at the elderly or dissabled. The concept behind the mobile shop is for basic nessecities such as toothpaste, bread, milk etc where people can't get to the shop or don't have the time. My mobile shop is like a take-away. You ring up from a leaflet, give your order and within 15/20 minutes you have your goods. Theres nothing worse than settling down for the night and realising you have no milk or cigarettes or maybe you just want a couple of sweets and drink for the night? I want to ask for your help. If you feel this is a good idea or not? would you use the mobile shop if it was up and running? If there's a process like this already out there? It's based for those living in HARLESDEN ONLY. Please leave your views. Mail-me Post reply -->London Retired Belinda 15 Jan Retired Dog Day Carers Required - West LondonAre you passionate about pets? I dont have a mum, or many older female relatives and have really missed this sort of female companionship. I dont think age should matter when it comes to friendships, because once we grow, life becomes more phased but we soon realise that how we felt inside at 20 is the same at 30 and 40, and 50 etc.. is it not? The sport is a good way of relieving the borderm of being at home all day, meeting people of ones' own age group, and occupying ones' mind for a few hours on a sunny afternoon for three/four hours per week. As we all know one thing leads to another so one could meet a partner or make a few friends for company. The sport may not be to everyone's taste, but take the positive option as one may be 50% right instead of 50% wrong. If you don't like the sport - don't go again, but on the other hand you may take to the sport and enjoy a lot of fun and company. The computer database at your local library should be able to point you in the right direction; or get in touch with the English Bowling Association who would be able to refer you to your local club. For me, taking up Lawn Bowls was one of my better decisions. I might do a very easy video interview mainly for my research work. A small fee could be negotiated. Anna Mail-me Post reply -->London Retired Anna Heighway 28 Feb ^ RetiredRetired Retirement is... ?I have recently taken early retirement at 57 and it feels really weird. I'm doing better recently but basically I feel disorentated and am aware that, underneath it all, I must be missing the stimulus of my work and the structure. Yes I know... all the advantages... and I am enjoying it, just not as much as I think I should. I'm pretty busy with family and some travel, with more planned, but, there is still a bit of a but, which I need to settle. Does anyone have a similar experience? Any advice. Mail-me Post reply -->London Retired Colin 8 Feb ^ RetiredI know exactly how you feel. I am just 60 and retired on my birthday. I also need more than family and travels. If you know of anything locally please let me know! Mail-me Post reply -->London Retired Franciane 29 Jan Retired MINI SAUSAGE DOG SEEKS FRIENDS!ARE YOU: * Someone with a dog-friendly dog who would like another dog for company? AND/OR * Someone retired and misses companionship from an animal but can't take on the full responsibilities of owning one? Are you living in Southfields or anywhere along the DISTRICT LINE (Wimbledon-Notting Hill) or CENTRAL LINE (Notting Hill-Shepherd's Bush)? The idea is that rather than being at home alone all day, the two dogs or person+dog can keep one another company when owners at work. Hiring a dog-sitter to pop in for an hour is too short but this is a great alternative with benefits for both parties. I have a young Miniature Dachshund who loves company - human and animals alike. What do you think? If you're interested, then Mail-me and tell me why. Highly trustworthy, dog loving people only. Don't forget to leave your email/contact number! Thanks and a very Happy New Year :) Post reply -->London Retired Michelle 7 Jan ^ Retired mini dachsyare you still looking for a home for your dachshund.my mum has one,and wants another for company. I live in South East London Post reply -->London Retired 24 Jan Retired ----Interested in a visit to Vancouver, Canada, with free accommodation?Vancouver based artist, over 50, would like to spend a month or so in the spring of 2006 in London, preferably Zone 1, in order to attend art workshops & drawing classes. I would like to exchange accommodation during that time. We have an attractive modern two bedroom flat on False Creek, with beautiful views over the waterfront, and within walking distance of Granville Island Market and downtown. You would be sharing flat with my spouse, who is a semi-retired physician, busy with his own life. Own bedsitting room (with TV) and bathroom; share kitchen. I am not fussy about where I stay in London, except that it be a quiet, clean household (no parties/ loud music) with my own bedroom. We are non-smokers. Mail-me References to be exchanged. Post reply -->London Retired an 2 Dec Retired re Suggest a new ForumPosted by Liz on 20th September What about a Forum for retired people? I'm over 60 myself and when I recommend 'My Wimbledon' to friends of the same age they tend to check it out but then dismiss it as they feel that it's of interest mainly to younger people. Post reply -->London Retired Liz 20 Sep ^ RetiredYeah I thought that too until two weeks ago. In fact that isn't right and I now know that the site is visited by people of a wide range of ages, and this what I always wanted MoveThat.com to be: the site started with MoveFlat.com which is for rented accommodation. I never intended MoveThat.com to be exclusively young, and it isn't: younger people have a much greater propensity to post on the site. I think people that do not regard themselves as 'young' see it as their role (inappropriately) to observe rather than engage, but the audience of this site is of a very broad age range. My reservation about having a 'Retired' forum is that it is too broad and too excluding at the same time. But I am frequently wrong and I'm going to do it, so thank you.
