Post or Ask something here in 'Book Clubs' Book Clubs Bookclub in Southfields areaI've just moved to London and was wondering if anyone knows of any book clubs in the area. I work during the week so it would need to be in the evening or on the weekend. Cheers Mail-me Post reply -->London Book Clubs Tamara 24 Jul Book Clubs Also Like To Join Book Club in North LondonBook Clubs The Itchy Chin ClubHello! This is a new non-fiction book club for people with a general interest in art, culture, politics, history and philosophy. To get things started the first book will be Slavoj Žižek's In Defense of Lost Causes and the proposed first meet up date the 26th of August. I'll confirm the venue in the next week or two, but it will definitely be somewhere central in the WC1/EC1/N1 area - possibly at the Candid Arts Trust in Angel N1. There's a blog with more background information and to keep people people up to date on plans: itchychinclub.blogspot.com Please feel free to drop me a line if you're interested, even if you can't make the first meet up. Regards, Christopher. Mail-me . I've been looking around for an interesting book club in a convenient location to either of these. Does anyone know of one? If so, please let me know on Mail-me - thanks! Post reply -->London Book Clubs AT 21 Jul Book Clubs Historical Fiction Book GroupSeeking avid fans of historical fiction based in London who are interested in establishing a book group dedicated to this genre. Hoping to set up a book group where we would meet, maybe once every two months, to discuss a chosen historical novel. This is a huge, diverse and increasingly popular genre. So whether it’s a zippy pageturner by Philippa Gregory or Bernard Cornwell, a classic by Robert Graves or a lengthy epic by James Michener or Edward Rutherfurd, there’s plenty for everyone. If this sounds like something up your street, please get in touch by emailing me at Mail-me – especially if you have some experience of a book group – and tell me a bit more about your interest in historical novels. We aim to read 18th century to modern but not-extremely-recent classics. Our meeting is on the 1st Monday evening of every month near Oxford Circus. Though we want to stay near Oxf. So far we've read: *Lolita - Nabakov *The Tenant of Wildfell Hall - Anne Bronte *Madame Bovary - Flaubert *No Name - Wilkie Collins If you are interested Mail-me maybe mentioning something about what books interest you etc & I'll share it with the others and get back to you.
