We do live now in a small one bedroom flat and we always lived in flat shares/ communities before and miss the social aspect of it: the spontaneous coffee in the morning on the weekend and a good chat, for the babies/kids to play together. Paired up with the advantages of having a garden and more space, sharing the bills and maybe a babysitter.
What house... A 4-5 bedroom house with garden. Private space for each family necessary and share garden and kitchen.

You should try and get a copy of 'Willesden Past' by Len Snow, Published by Phillimore & Co Ltd. Shopwyke Manor Barn. Chichester, West Sussex, PO20 6BG. I found this book very informative. Len Snow also wrote books called 'Queen's Park, Kensal, Brondesbury & Harlesden, and 'Brent,Wembley, Willesden & Kingsbury.

I went to Edmonton tech school in the fifty's. I still have my school photo in 1958 and Miss Evans was the Head Mistress at that time. I had Mrs Howard for sewing, she was nice.Some of the other teachers were. Mrs Burgess(Embroidery) Mrs Wiliiams (PE) Mrs Cohen (English) Mrs Hanchett (History/Geography) I cant think of all the others Teachers, I left there to come to Australia.I hope this helps and you reply back. Planes in East Sheen

Hi I moved from Hampstead down to East Sheen and yes there are planes and occasionally you do hear an early morning one around 5am but I live up near Palewell common and as the planes tend to come in along the Thames they are quite quiet here.
The modern planes are getting better and better and with no Concord and the phasing out of older noisier cargo planes I should think now is a great time to invest in the area.
At the moment the planes are using the other runways - think this may be down to wind direction? So we have no noise at all.
