Hippodrome, Rucklidge Avenue

I went to Furness Road School Just after it was fire bombed in 1943. I was in Miss Leonard's class for two years and used to play in the wrecked out Hippodrome at lunchtimes. Gerald Duley took us in there as he lived on Rucklidge Avenue. I can remember climbing up and looking down at the stage and the safety curtain from above. I don't remember anyone getting hurt in there. All I can say we were very lucky.  Mail-me

Hi, I am trying to find information of a family member. A Valerie May Wade in or around the Colchester/London area for connections. This name is my Grandmother. My mother was born 20th April 1953 and named Avril Mae and was adopted with a change of name thereafter. Family tales suggested this lady was fairly young at the time possibly 16-19 years of age but i can not confirm. Adopted parents of Avril came from Barking and solicitors used was in Maryland. I'm just curious of my past and family history. Any help gratefully received should this post be of interest or knowledge to anyone 07967102576

Poetry

BRILLIANT!

This poem really touched me! It tells the story of a man down and out and living on the streets. I think it was absolutely brilliant! And the best one I have read so far. I also wrote a poem about an alcoholic one amusing and one sad. I also have a Polish half brother who lived in a cemetary, and a chronic alcoholic, so I can relate to this poem very well. You have talent! Well done!

THIS IS WHAT I CALL POETRY!

I loved this poem because as I read it "I could see in my minds eye the whole of the poem. I found it very moving, and I could imagine being this girl. A really nice poem with a lot of feeling. Well done on a very nice piece of work!

ER ELVIS OR NOT ELVIS?

Oh dear! I was really enjoying this site, and when I came across the poetry I was in seventh heaven because I write poems and stories? I was going to put on my Elvis poetry tribute? However, I am a bit reluctant to do so now? I am happy to accept criticism? But Vincent's message was harsh? I actually liked the poem about the sad girl on the sea wall! I shall have to think about making a contribution now! I'm rather shy lol.

Genuine Friends

Hi, I'm a black female in my mid thirties, live in South London and am keen to make some new, genuine, reliable friends.

Over the years my social circle has got smaller and smaller and it feels harder to make 'real life' friends these days.

I'm a single mum to a six year old girl and work full time and in my spare time, enjoy going to bars, eating out, movies, theatre, shopping, travel, badminton and the gym, amongst other things.

If you think we'd get on, contact me at  Mail-me

Is the smell permanent

Hi I have just moved to the Riverside Development near the power station and can honestly say there is not a day where I don't get a wiff of what I can only describe as a stale fart. This could be due to the fact I am near to where the clean water passes back into the river. Will this be a permanent odour or are there plans to neutralise it?

Also what effect does this have on my lungs/ health?

Flatmate wanted

My friend and I are looking for a flatmate to join us as we search for a new flat in London. We have been looking in the Pimlico and Swiss Cottage areas and have had some success but now our third party has had to leave us so we need someone else.

About us:
I'm Matthew and I work full time in retail and freelance as an actor and singer.
My flatmate is Lisa and she will be studying and working full time.
We are both massive fans of musical theatre, just to give you a heads up.

What we are looking for:
We're hoping to someone who will be sociable and not just hide out in there room. Smokers permitted as long as it's not in the communal areas of the flat.

If you are interested in joining us please email me at  Mail-me  or message me on 07404215067

none of which I have finished and posted . We were at school together , even sometimes sitting together . We used to go to one another homes . I certainly got the best of that

Rucklidge Avenue Murder 1956

Hi, I have been researching the murder of Margaret May Daniels in Rucklidge Avenue on May 13th 1956. Margaret was 53 years of age, she worked at The Royal National Institute for the Blind. Her job was Assistant Editor of Braille books. She was found dead in her bedroom by her companion Miss Catherine Birch 22 who was completely blind.
She passed the murderer on the stairs as he was leaving, he told her "It's alright, don't worry" and left. She phoned the Police.
The culprit Thomas Patrick Delahunty was captured. He lived in a house in Harlesden High Street. He was tried at the Old Bailey and found guilty. He was remanded in custody until Friday September 7th after which he was sentenced to death by hanging at Pentonville prison.
Unfortunately I have been unable to find out if the sentence was carried out but I will continue to search. I hope this will be informative to any of you that are interested.

Single mother with 8 yr old daughter looking for flat/house share

Hey there!
I am a single mother of a 8yr old girl and I am looking for another single parent to share a home with, also I think it would be nice to help each other. I am still living in Germany, but I am coming over in October. I will be working over the week and sometimes over the weekend. I am planning to stay in the slough area, but if it is a nice home and the right person, I am willing to be a bit flexible :) I can´t wait to hear from you :D

Was this "The Highbury Mob"?

I heard they were the hardest around but didn't get involved with Football Hooligans so not everyone knows about them.
